Brian.
You are a star!!!!

That web page has Melsec FX connection cables.
I thought they had become extinct years ago.
Thanks Grizzly.

I would assume that your only option is to recover the refrigerant, change the oil.
Fit new filters and periodically change oil, filters as necessary.
Using an acid test kit to check for acid concentrations left in system.

Reclaiming and reusing the refrigerant is usually a very specialist job.

No doubt someone may come up with a clean up method for the desperate?

I used to have a "reclaimer" and that was exactly how it worked! It was configured with removable core filters and an oil seperator. The problem was we had no way of knowing when the refrigerant was "pure" enough to be reused, a bit of a guessing game and no one was really willing to take the chance of contaminating a system, refrigerants were still realatively inexpensive and so we really never used it. We no longer have the machine but if you had a way to verify the purity of the product I don't see why you cant "reclaim" refrigerant.
