Hello!

I'm having troubles on a Freezer room where two big Evaporators (900kg) are mounted on the ceiling with 8 metal hangers (threaded rods), some of this rods are getting ice build up at the inside of the room, (some not all of them). I've insulated the exterior part of the hangers and worked for a short time but again the ice is coming back.

Have you deal with this trouble? Do you know if there are non-metal hangers for a 900kg Evaporator?

Thanks!!

Plastic threaded rods, nuts, washers, etc. are available.

Thanks Gary.
Could you post a manufacturer/dealer website link please? I haven't found long enough rods here in Mexico.

George

Have you water leaking in to some of the rods? Plastic can become brittle at low temps, i'd stick with metal.Maybe check the roof first for poor sealing?

Thanks al.

I didn't see no water on the roof, I already did re-sealing at the rods but the ice is still building up.

technical info states m20 rod rated for 215kg so unless u have 6 rods evenly loaded-u might struggle with the weight-how about a low wattage trace heater tape? usually u bolt the evaps to the ceiling so there is no rod on show

are the evaps opposite each other ? do they go on defrost at seperate times ? if they do one set of rods will be warmed by heat from evaps moisture forms when warm meets cold put them on defrost at same time and check termination temps as they maybe getting to hot on a defrost :) and being steel they will conduct heat cold either way have a look at RSJ they hanging on see how warm it gets

are the evaps opposite each other ? Yes, they are.
do they go on defrost at seperate times ? No, they go on defrost at the same time.

I do will check how hot it gets on defrost, they have electrical defrost heaters.
