Not in my experience when WR lost the Tesco contract to Space 18 months ago.

Only 4 blokes got TUPE'd, about 10 were made redundant and most got jobs at Space on new terms.
The original 4 were on the WR contract (no shift work, hourly rate, etc.) and had the thumbscrews turned by Space upper management to sign up to Space terms. The whole affair stank.

Glad I'm well out of it!

Cheers,
Andy.

Being tuped dont help in long term - york engineers tuped to jci - then they claimed new something ! (daily job had changed - added split a/c vrv ect....no longer chiller service only) which allowed them to basically force all tuped to jci contracts

tupe can be "altered" to suit a company... its happened to me before

in fact "manipulated" is a better term

A good choice of word there Craig.
If it was not so easy because of tupe contracts would not be handled by these employment agencies.
Sorry Refrigerant ion and ME companies.

When a company wins a contract do they "have" to take the engineers on who have worked this contract with the previous contractor?.

By law i think "yes" is the answer....

But this is the UK, Loop holes exist....

Arcus were awarded 5 year contract only last year for the South/Eastern region whilst other areas are now up for tender. However with Arcus undergoing a "harmonisation" process & industry defining changes to T's & C's it's anyone's guess if they hold onto the refrigeration contract.

As far as i am aware Arcus have been a awarded the 5 year contract nationwide in august 2011 this is what it says on there website anyway......

Had an interview with mike brannigan at city and he is offering a really good package for works in the central region. Think there is 5 contractors working on th J S contract.

I heard you will get lots of night work for it with minimal overtime. Arcus sounds better bet for similar money.
City - 35K, Arcus - 38K

But if u're going to work in London, you will pay parking tickets regulary and your driving licence in real danger.
