Has anyone had a problem with the compressor shutting down on low oil temp on Trane RTAA125 rotary air cooled chiller? If so what is causing this?

Hi
it would seem like either your oil temp sensor is faulty
or you have a more serious problem.
i would start by checking the oil sump temp when this error shows up,
and comparing it to the reading of the ucp2.
good luck

Hi,
I suppose that you have a US RTAA unit with R22, UCM-CLD adaptive control and GP1 compressors. (CHHN)
In this case there is no Low Oil Temperature fault.
Faults relative to oil are:
1. Entering oil temperature sensor.
2. High oil temperature.
3. Low oil flow. (Applicable only in IS compressors. (CHHB))
4. Oil system fault.
Please check and let us know.
I have send to your email fault list relative to RTAA US units.
You can also search the internet for RTAA IOM4.
Regards,
CV

adaptive control:

a. The differential oil pressure switch
remained open for more than
20 contiguous seconds on
Compressor A.

CLD DISPLAY:

The differential oil pressure switch remained opened for more
than 20 contiguous seconds on Cprsr A.
Note: Although GP cmprs do not have pressure switch or Oil
Line solenoid, this diagnostic is still active. The input must be
jumpered for normal operation on GP cmprs.

sorry:

the condenser temperature difference between saturated and oil temperature can give an alarm on the compressor lubrication system should be set at -4 ° F
