I am thinking of doing a course to become a air condition engineer this September. Just needed to know whether Refrigerants are toxic and harmful in any way to the human body or not. I have heard that they can be harmful to the ozone layer so does that mean that they can be bad for people too ? More to it why is it that refrigerant is dangers if used in unventilated areas?.Any thoughts?
Cheers.

Hi vl72

if handled properly you do not need to worry about being toxic, to answer your question, yes, some extremely toxic

in an unventilated area leaking refrigerant will displace the air and in affect you could Asphyxiate

Forget the scare storys, if your up for it just use a reputable training centre and you will not have any problems

And not one that just does F-gas training
