Installing 2 new copeland scroll racks with water cooled condensers, has anyone got a piping schematic for the water side only, eg.. butterfly valves, flow control valves, pressure gauges and what's the best water filter to use, before or after the pump?
Will only have 2 pipes from outside, flow and return. Will (t-off) the main supply to 2 different racks but need to control the flow properly with safety devices etc... Using R507

Hi
you need to understand the contract specification requirements, if you cannot understand that primary spec., walk away.

I know all the flow rates required for the condensers we have fitted, only wanted to know the best way to pipe up the water system with the control valves etc..
Job nearly completed already, commissioning next week
flow rates will be adjusted to control head pressure, has anyone got experience with this setup????

Strainers need to be before the inlet of the pump.

After the outlet of the water leaving the condensers install a 3 way analogue bypass valve, after that in the water leaving line install a balancing valve, the balancing valve should be set to maintain the design flowrate of the condenser. In the bypass line also install a balancing valve, this one should be set to mimic the pressure drop of your water cooled condenser at its design flow rate, this will ensure when the 3 way valve bypasses that water flow rates will not be affected.

Do this on both condensers, balance once and everything will be good. Install isolating valves to isolate each condenser and its valving arrangements, install pressure guages in pump inlet and outlet. Drain points are always good to consider, place at the low point of each isolatable part of the system. If you are pushed for cash you can omit the balance valve in the bypass line but when the 3 way valve bypasses your flow rates in the rest of the system will be affected - assuming that the 3 way valves won't be modulating at design max means you shouldn't have too many problems unless your towers are massively oversized.
