Hi,

I Don't know much about Ice Rinks...

A halve Ice Rink (15m x 30m) with a decent insulated building, would require a 50HP compressor, is this too small?

so 50hp is about 37300watts ?

if the Rink was active for 365 days a year 24 hours a day...

((((24*365)*37300)/1000)*0.5RMB) = 163,374RMB expense per year?

note: RMB is the currency here in using.

Im also guessing in the winter (-10 degrees C for about 5 months), the compress would run at a lower capacity?, and in the summer (30 degrees C for about 7 months) would run at max capacity?

Kevin, Ice rink load depends a lot on the building and the environment. Most of the rinks in China are not very efficient. A typical mall rink in Nanjing or Shanghai has an electrical cost of about 1000 RMB/m2/year. A well insulated and properly ventilated dedicated rink building would reduce this by about 50%. You need a cooling capacity between 250 and 500 watts/M2 so you need at least 135 kW cooling capacity and you could need up to 225 kW.
