Hi all,
I have a PFH050 chiller with two CE050 compressors running with R12.
I lost oil in 1st compressor. I put new oil and I started. It run OK.
When a compressor run and the other one is stating, it trips (the 2nd started) by high suction temp.
Do you know if the suction valves are butterfly or other type? The unit is very old I don’t want to touch these valves before I know what kind they are?
I have a feeling that the unit need refrigerant or the suction valves are not open enough.
When evaporator pressure is 45PSIG, the pressure in suction elbow is 38PSIG.
When compressor trips by high suction temperature, suction is hot and bellow suction valve is cold!!!
What is your opinion?
Regards,
CV

hi cv _geardrive, you are correct to be aprehencive about the suction butterfly valve, but normaly its either fully open or fully closed< spring operated to close on pressure diff< so you are right to ask the question , but
I would go off the temp of the suction elbow, not the temp of the suction valve, tell me isd there 800 kg in the system of more ? me thinks you got a lot of reclaiming to do, fortunatly you can get easily onto a liquid valve, all the best, sedgy,
