Just over a year ago we purchased a Keram Ground Source Heat Pump. We assumed that the heat pump was covered (as is normal in Europe) by the manufacturer's warranty so at least there was a degree of protection in the event of failure of components or defects that may arise over the next 24 months. A few weeks ago we discovered a refrigeration leak from a badly soldered joint. It was repaired by a local refrigeration company at the cost of a few hundred Euros. Shortly after this the 4-way reversing valve and a flow switch were fould to be malfunctioning and both require replacement. The cost to replace these items stands at over 800€. Keram who are based in China have been kept informed of developments from the start. They were initially helpful in trying to identify the failures however when it transpired that the malfunctions were as a result of component breakdown and poor workmanship they went very quiet not responding to correspondence. Such failures would normally be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty (if the manufacturer is reputable) however Keram are in this business to rip people off. They sell their products with no customer after care other than a bit of lip service. Always buy from a reputable manufacturer who cares about long term reputation. It's better to spend a little more at the outset by purchasing from a well known reputable company. In the long run it will work out more cost effective. Avoid cheap Chinese imports!! Avoid Keram.
