Re aircon split unit conversion.

Hi ,
Once again same question of split unit conversion to air to water heat pump,( apology) !
just got greenstar ac outer unit removed from office 18000 btu's. Was interested in converting to heat pump for my own house which has standard convectional heating system. Was thinking to convert this and connecting it my old system and leave the boiler as back up in peak freezing conditions.

My house is 3 bed semi fairly good insulated with double glazed as well. the floor area is
85sq/mtrs.boiler is 40,000 btu 11kw.

don't know how to put this but i think i need to connect plate heat exchanger to existing pipe inside the outer unit and get two flow and return pipes to be connected
to existing system. Do know where and which type and size of plate heat exchanger would do the job also is it okay to leave reversing valve on the system as i don't have
any technical knowledge of how ac units work as don't deal on those thing just general heating systems i install. Advice and help needed please

There are lots of different heat exchangers available, a Google on Refrigerant Heat Exchangers uk will show you a fair range.

What refrigerant is your unit running on?

The reversing valve must stay as it is also used to defrost the unit.

Thanks for the reply, the refrigerant is R410a and its 18000 btu's the unit. two things which type oh heat exchanger and the size will do require also it was working with remote, on wiring side dont know how to modify as five core cable goes from outside unit to inside one which wont be used anymore.

Check the wiring diagrams inside the units to figure out what the wires do.

once again thanks can you guide me on what type and size to calculate for heat exchanger would be required
also if you can recommend any books on what are the components in heat pumps and its function so i can read and gain more knowledge and idea before i start this project. One more thing is 18000btu's enough for 85sq/mtrs for floor area.

With an 18,000 btu unit you need at least an 18,000 btu heat exchanger, the shape or type is up to you. Lowest water resistance is favourite.

just found this heat exchanger from germany ebay Item number: 360340606207 quite expensive any ideas
where u get cheaper. for 24000 btu been quoted £270.00 + postage.
