guru's what is the legislation regarding energy inspections on ac systems?
ive read that if the tennant has more than 250kw of cooling then it is req.
also if a system over 12kw is installed after 2008 then it req inspecting.
i have clients with lots of splits all under 7 kw and under 250kw total cooling and they are the people requseting this-not the tennant with 2x trane rt108 chillers!!! please clarify ta

I thought that it was the 12kW level now, the 250kW had to be done last year.

so as long as i havent installed a 12kw system since 2008 my sites do not qualify for inspections

No, it isn't a single 12kW system it is if the system(s) installed total 12kW.

its the total kw cooling on each site so if you have 3x 4kw units you need it and they go by highest rateing so if its a heat pump they add up on heat, units require inspection beyound 5 years old in a working enviroment

I live in the United States. What kind of inspection is it over there; output performance of the systems, or Home/building energy efficiency type audit?

Well done Argus.
That guy is being very annoying.
Thanks Grizzly.
Guys as far as I understand it (My colleague is a trained assessor).
Brian is correct it is 12kg total / per building.
A building constitutes under one roof.
Only those systems that provide "Comfort Cooling" are added to-wards the total target of 12kg.
Comfort cooling being cooling that is supplying "Manned" Work areas.
If say you have a I.T. Comms room then that is not applicable. The minute their is a desk and say chair in there then that system applies also.
There is loads more but that's the simple outlook.

1 day, you'll be lucky.

My brief understanding is that it costs around a grand plus 300 a year to be re-assessed plus 20 for each assessment.

It is a massive EU tax with very little return that I can see. Existing equipment will not be replaced until it is dead so any indications of poorly running equipment will be filed away.
