Hi,
I came cross a freezer which uses R290 refrigerant ,I found that the capillary line/filter drier is blocked.I need to replace the filter drier and clean capillary with nitrogen does anyone can tell me whether I can use R404a instead R290 for the same compressor.the Oil is POE. Appreciate very much your advice. Thanks

R22 looks a better match on a pt chart. R290 would be the best option if its what the system is designed to run on. Most wholesalers sell HC refrigerants in 1kg bottles, though you should have been on a course and may need to show your card to buy it.

Why not just use R290?

BOC do half day CARE HANDLING course at Guildford, this covers you as compentant for all hydrocarbons

Not sure how much as company paid, but it was very basic and BOC will not sell without seeing your card
