Can anyone advise?
Can Splits / Chillers charged with R410a. Be made and sold with 1/4" schraeder and 3/8" Service valves within the U.K. and E.U.

some transport kit is but i always thought it was a bad idea due to pressures and a good way to screw the low side on your gauges but it is being made

Carrier's 30RB Chiller uses 1/4" schraeder fittings,

not only carrier but i have come accross other manufacturers doing the same thing, as Gibbo said Carrier use these fittings and i know that all equipment manufactured by carrier for sale in the EU complies with or exeedes EU/UK regulations so i guess there is no laws/regs on this

the larger 5/16 connection is I presume to stop your average joe working and not having a clue.
similar to car ac systems that changed when R12 / R134a was changed over

There is no legislation that states a certain connection size has to be a certain size

The 5/16 connection was just to make us go out and buy gauges suited to the higher pressure.
Don't forget, we all still use the same 1/4" cylinders or adapters for R410a.
