compliments
any body know the basic equation for desiding the flow rate of the chilled water pump with respect of the size of evaporator in tons
thanks

Dear Afif,,

afif the flow rate of a chilled water system is related to the tonnage, first you have to transform the tonnage to KW, i.e. 1 Ton = 3.41 KW, then you can apply this formula:

Q= m x Cp x DT

Q: Capaciy in KW
m: Flow rate (Kg/sec)
Cp: Specific Heat (For Water 4.18 KW/Kg.K)
Dt: Delta T (entering - leaving chiller water temp)

then u'll get your flow rate man ..

1 ton = 12000 Btu/hr = 3.5168528421 KW

Specific heat of water = 4.19kj/kg.K

kj/s = kw

Hi guys

Afeef take care man , if you are using glycol or other antifreezing agent the specific heat of the blend changes .

Best regards
