hi guys i was considering buying a testo 410-2 my only concern is the vane is only small (40mm), see here http://www.keison.com/testo_instruments/testo_instruments_410vaneanemometer.shtml if i take many reading and average it out over the face of the duct would this be considerd acurate or should i get a larger vane?

what are the disatvantages of smaller vanes? testo 100mm vane anemometer is £300 od and the one above is only £130? cant aford the 100mm but would really like an anemometer

i notice my gaffer has 100mm vane but not sure why :/ hes away at mo so cnt ask him

cheers :)

I don't know how accurate you want it bu you can get cheap ones here, http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=anemometer&_sacat=See-All-Categories

As they say the bigger the better

A larger vane will give a more consistent reading than a smaller one which will be influenced by the users movement .

same old story it cost more to buy a proper one than it does to buy one that nearly can

The drawback with a small vane is that it can be influenced by jets of high velocity air.

If you are taking a traverse of a supply air grille with a regulated damper behind then the readings could be affected by the jets through the damper restrictions.

Go for at least a 100mm if you want respectable results.

If you want the best then try this kit...
