Hi Everyone,

We recently went through a power outage, like so many times before. Only this time several fuses were blown, an MCC tripped out, and also this compressor developed problems.

None of the sensors were registering any values. Pressure pots nor temp probes were reporting.

Upon further inspection, I found the 5v, 12v power supply to be blown. It's internal fuse was not blown, but it wasn't putting out any voltage.

I thought, "Ok, we have a shorted sensor that must have taken out the power supply." Even though none of the sensors tested to have continuity to ground.

Once a new power supply was installed, I unplugged all the sensors from the board and powered it back up. Process of elimination all set to take place.

It immediately blew the new power supply. Once again, the new power supply's internal fuse is not blown.

So here I am, scratching my my head.

I have checked incoming power. All good there.

Does anyone have any insight as to what is wrong here?

This power supply feeds the mother board, the sensor board, along with 2 relay boards.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A little update here.

I decided to further inspect the old Power Supply. Power was applied to it and now it works again.

Hmmmm.........It must have thermal overload protection. The new one probably does too, I thought.

I then went back to the compressor, unplugged both its relay cards and it's sensor card, then powered back up the Quantim.

We have activity. The Quantim booted up and went into shutdown mode for lack of sensor input.

Then one at a time, I plugged back in each card. All good so far.

Then one at a time, I plugged back in each sensor lead, watching for the gremlin to show it's head. All Good. ???

When all the alarms are cleared, it quickly returns to shutdown mode for lack of sensor input.

So I rebooted the Quantim, several times, same results.

There is no version information being displayed in the Quantim for the accessory boards. I also notice the communication leds are dark.

It appears the Mother board is not communicating with any accessory boards.

Next course of action?

Thanks for your post Serviceman,

I'm sure your suggestion would fix it if it were the LX Version, but it isn't.

I believe this to be one of the original Quantims.
Software Version 3.43 May 13, 1999
Bios Version 1.12 01-06-1998

I did go into the setup and told it to re-detect the boards. It sees nothing.

set the power to the motherboard at 5.17 volts if I know what what power supply you have I can walk you thru the adjustment
