TXV failer old age or something else

HX1000 NES...Got a EBSV 11 cp100 with the metering face on the stem pitted and erroded away big time. Is it cavitation damage from old age or from something else. :)

if the system has been running short of gas this can errode the seat etc, another way this happen is with contaminents in the system, make sure you use a new filter/drier when you replace the valve and ensure correct gas charge, cheers
