Mitsubishi plus back up heaters

We are looking at a couple of projects where we would like to be able to supplement/back-up an Ecodan with an immersion.

As far as I am aware the FTC2 supports this application, but we have not found a canister that we can mount a 3 or 6kw immersion in.

We have drawn up a design and priced it, but it is costly. Has anyone attempted this and if so how successful was it, and where did you source the canister from?

Take a look at the heater module used inside Stiebel-Eltron, or equivalent, instant heaters.

What do mean by Canister?

Ecodans FT2 has a connection on the PCB which will trigger a Mitsi supplied relay which will power a 3/6kw Imm Heater fitted in any mainstream Hot Water cylinder.

Alternativly you can wire it with a sepparate timer which although works is not directly controlled by the FTC2.


Or....................... are you talking about using an Imm Heater to boost Space Heating?

Hi Sinewave, its a back-up the space ehating we are looking for to extend the potential coverage for the units. We have mailed Mitsi too and are waiting for an answer.

Sinewave's description of how to control immersion heater for DHW using FTC2 can be applied to control up to 2 x inline boost heaters if required, some DIP SW changes will be required to FTC2 in order to control directly, the boost heaters can work in lieu of immersion covering DHW and CH or purely for CH dependeant on their position in relation to the CH 2 port valve.
