i have a problem to recognize the comparison between SCADA system and BAS system..

have anybody know about that?

Building automation describes the functionality provided by the control system of a building. A building automation system (BAS) is an example of a distributed control system (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_control_system). The control system is a computerized, intelligent network (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_networking) of electronic devices, designed to monitor and control the mechanical and lighting systems in a building.


SCADA stands for supervisory control and data acquisition. It generally refers to industrial control systems: computer systems that monitor and control industrial, infrastructure, or facility-based processes, as described below:

actually, i need to do a research about the Thermal Energy Storage system at my university..then, i must improve the BAS system (already install in my university) with SCADA system..

when i see that BAS system at my university control room, i dont know what the major different between BAS and SCADA system..

so, how i can improve that system using SCADA system?

actually, i'm a newbie in this field, so i need some help..by the way, thanks a lot josip for your information..
