View Full Version : Mitsubishi Ecodan heatpump and gledhill boilermate hp dem

Hi we fitted 4 no systems last year and none of theme work properly.They are fitted in different types of houses but they all have the same problem
The problem with the systeme are the flow temp to the rads is to low the majority of the time it sometimes goes out at 45-55 degrees but that only last for short periods then it pumps out 20-30 degrees efectively cooling down the rads.it fluctuates all the time altough the outdoor sensor is disconected and show's a constant -9 degrees. When its producing hot water it pumps out at a constant 50-60 degrees it seem both uinits are not talking to each other properly when it comes to the heating. one of the systems worked well for a period but it tripped the fuse and has not worked properly since? has anybody had the same problem's and if so how can we fix it.

Sounds like a combined design installation and commisssioning error/incompetance on behalf of the installation company myself!


The Company I sub-contrcat for have installed over 80 Ecodans so far and have had very few problems at all.


There is more to ASHP design & install than Split Bashing OP.

I would concur with Sinewave, sounds like four poorly designed system installations.

You lost all credibillity as soon as I read the name Gledhill. I specialise in repairing these heaps which are normally fitted for one reason only. Design and quality were never a Gledhill strong point

Sounds like a combined design installation and commisssioning error/incompetance on behalf of the installation company myself!


The Company I sub-contrcat for have installed over 80 Ecodans so far and have had very few problems at all.


There is more to ASHP design & install than Split Bashing OP.

Hi There we fitted 1 Boilermate version of the Mitsi packaged unit and within weeks disconnected the OD sensor because it didn't work, neither did the back-up immersion that was supposed to bolster the heat output.

We have however just converted said unit over to the FTC2 using the components already in situ and with a few mods it is working fine.

All of the units that we have installed with FTC 1 and 2 technology have been fine though.

No, all the tanks were Vaillant pressurised units.

Gledhill tanks are Toss, fullstop!

As Sinewave said, anything by Gledhill is a pile of junk and the kindest thing that you can do with a Gledhill is weigh it in..... They went bust a few years ago and it is the best thing that they could do for the heating industry, sadly they sold a lot of their stuff to constuction companies and I now have the joy of repairing them... Although I'm an approved Vaillant installer, I find santon premier plus unventeds to be very good

Seems like you potentially have flow rate issues on the heating circuit after the LL header, there would be no other reason for the system to work in HW and have this issue in HTG with S7 disconnected unless they were undersized for the losses. If you have UFH installed you should have a 15-60 installed on the manifold and just let the internal 15-50 circulate to the manifold.

Completely agree with the rest of the posts here though they are heaps of junk but that's a lot to do with the unreliable electronics they outsourced from Belgium.
