Ah, it's the walk-about copper problem by the looks of it.

Similar in effect to the auto-lead-roof-removal ghost I believe. :D

:DYou've gotta hand it to the auld pikeys.
Look on the bright side more work for you;)
Plus you'll have plenty of spares if he goes for the same model again..

Cheers

could they also not weigh the compressors in, you would think they would just take the whole condensors away and possibly strip them somewhere abit more obscure you know incase they got seen and caught

mind you these days people just dont care do they!!

most comps have stamped id somebody new what they where doing but to strip on site took some nerve but i have done many a late call and i cant remember the last time someone asked for id i suppose the snowflake on the van gives it away

Trust the japanese to invent disintrigating copper, aluminimum and screws, what will they think of next.
Warranty claim I presume, those units are not fit for purpose????????!!!!!!!!!!

Homing evaporators. You install them, then in the middle of the night they all break out and make their way to the manufacturer:D

Too bad, if only they knew that the condensers are by far more valuable as condensers than they are as scrap........

Call yourself an Engineer.

You could have that running in a couple of hours...... ;)

Plus in the first picture it is obvious why the air
cond is not working.

The window was left open.... :D

I'd assume weight, pretty hard to carry away the lot, especially down a ladder.
Coils are only worth $2/kg here as the copper is really thin, and it's mostly aluminum, are they worth that much more as scrap over there?

edit: also it's hard to give away a compressor. No a/c repairer would want it, scrap yards will take it for free if you drain all the oil out.

Carry it down a ladder?

The pikies would just throw the unit off the roof then chuck it onto the back of their wagon....:D:D:D (untaxed, but brand new of course)

Seems like these boys should be on 'Worlds Dumbest Criminals'

Reminds me of the time I spent in Mitchel's Plain (Cape Flats) installing multiplex kit for a small meat market around 1992. Guy stands at the bottom of my ladder asking me if I wanted to buy a car radio. Told him "no". He tells me he will show me the radio - maybe I will change my mind. He turns around - smashes the front driver window of the nearest car - rips out the radio in seconds - stands back up and shows it to me.
