Thermal imaging camera

Looking into possibly purchasing a thermal imaging camera. Will be using it to check building envelope heat loss, ufh circuits and also some refrigeration applications. Have many of you used them? How Did you find them? Which brands are best? Don't want to go into crazy money?
So far I've been looking at the entry level Flir and Fluke.

Ya was on that site earlier and saw that but when i went researching it seems to be a little too "entry level". But maybe I'm wrong in saying that. Might hire one for an application I currently have and see what its like.
So far the Testo 875 is the best entry level unit I've seen on paper.

I plan to do electric board scanning through a big insurance company, water leaks finding, thermal problems in buildings.

In refrigeration it can be used for quick and accurate checking of any system, blocked driers, operating valves in compressor heads, leaks in SV and more.

Did you do much reasearch Chemi or were you sold on Flir. What made you decide on the i50?

I spoke to technical people from Flir and we came to this camera as a good one that covers my needs and more.

Probably under the impression he can see through clothes with it. Be a bloody expensive night cos I can't see the 6k coming back in one piece.

Getting a Flir i5 out to me tomorrow. Its on the lower end of spec but will see what I think and whether i need an upgrade or suits my needs at all.

I'm going with a rental first to access my needs. Then I'll possibly get one or two demos and probably lease as you suggest if I find what I need.

Hello again Big freeze.
I generally use a hand held UV thermomter thingo to check switch boards and panels for hot spots before disaster stricks, hired thermo cameras for insulation panel failures and I can print a picture for client.
Another thing you may concider which is very customer friendly is vibration analysis for machinery. Another good earner. Techrentals hire out them as well.
