Ive started to read back through the above book that i bought online last year but it is in imperial units and i'm finding it really difficult to constantly keep converting it to SI units.

I've been looking online to see if i can get it with SI unit of measurements but i'm not sure where i can get it from.

I've seen on amazon that the 5th edition uses both imperial and metric which i imagine will still be confusing.

Is it not possible to get this book in just SI?

I have the 4th edition.

Hi Marc
I have the second edition SI version. I would say it's pretty old but you might find one on the net. There are no imperial units in my book.
Good Luck
The ISBN 0-471-05271-X soft cover, I bought it in NZ. You could try Amazon - but I wouldn't cause they tried to get in the way of Wikileaks.

Hi Tesla, i've been hunting all over but can't find the 2nd edition 1981 version, it's seems that it is a pretty rare copy you have there.

I've come across a 4th edition SI version that i will probably buy but i do want to get hold of the 2nd/3rd edition as i beleive it has a section on motors that the later books don't have.

Yes Marc there is an electric motor and control chapter at the end of this book of 23 pages. I did a quick search and found a few 1961, 1978 and 1981 on http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=Dossat and http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?an=Dossat&sortby=3 with the ISBN but they don't say they are SI version. I should imagine the one from Ausi on the site should be the SI version. There are many great motor books out there if you can't obtain one. I have read many refrig books and none come even close to uncle Dossat for pure refrigeration theory with in depth calculation - even from where the original formula is derived. I don't think the newer versions of this book are near as good either. I hope you find one.

I emailed a few companies from abebooks last night to check if they are SI versions but haven't heard back from them yet.
I read that somewhere that they brought out the 1981 version purposely in SI format so i'm going to try and get hold of that one but no luck as of yet.

I'm sure i'll come across it somewhere.

Sorry .. but I fail to see the significance of this ..... I trust there is no intended slight on the "Yorkshire Men" and their enlightened joyous nature brought about by the very fact that they were blessed, as all true Yorkshire folk are, by being raised amonst the wholesome, rich culture and heritage of God's own county.
The sketch merely shows the depth and integrity of Yorkshire and its industrious heritage and wealth of culture, in some ways it displays or characterises a race of people who have developed a gentleness in humility and wisdom from a self affacing nature. ;)

As so distinctly expressed in the Yorkshire Man's motto.

"probitas quod pudor"
