Hi everyone,
I have a panasonic CS1873KR inverter air conditioner, just went to switch it on for the first time this season and its malfunctioning. It starts up, opens the vent panel, then shuts down...
Does this unit have a low refrigerant cutout or am I looking for and electrical gremlin...The unit is nearly 16 yrs old ....I have switched all power off and back on with no change.....help !

That ain't an inverter, that's an old unit.
From the symptoms, sounds like fan motor not working. So fan motor and pcb required, about $400+
edit: Actually I believe the PCB is no longer available, so time for a new a/c.

,do you keep your car that long.
well I have a 1974 RX3 and a 1976 RX4, and I'm driving my 1997 EL until rust kills it, so yes :)
Heap of people on the USA forums I visit are buying 1950-1980s cars to drive too, I love seeing those old buicks, pontiacs and caddys bought cheap ;)
but an old a/c doesn't have any decent classic styling or cool factor anyway...

The new replacement 5kW unit from Panasonic E18LKR model is a very good unit or if you dont want all the bells and whistles a specialist would be able to supply you with an RE18LKR inverter system that will be a little cheaper. The new Panasonic units are great systems and would be a worthy replacement.
