Read an interesting article about ammonia powering cars.
With the costs associated with hydrogen manufacturing and storage, the costs and weight of electric cars etc.. the next step is ammonia which is hydrogen rich. The manufacture and storge is done at gas station [ no pun intended ] A simple ammonia generator using water for hydrogen and air for nitrogen. The cost of generator is fractionally cheaper than hydrogen manufacture. Quotes $0.30 per litre, before taxes of course. No residual emissions or waste.

the research and development is by a Kiwi/ NZ'er based in Texas US of A. They are trying to sort consumer resistance to the smell. Apparently the standard engine can be converted. Sorry to all the sheiks and arab oil baron sellers, stick the crude oil were the sun does not shine. That should screw the stock market in Wall street. Oh bugger. Not

Hi DesA,
it was in the NZHerald newspaper, weekend edition saturday, read article having first expresso for the day. Google NZ Herald and dive around, user friendly site.

Hi Goober, fairly sure is was ammonia. But will double check.

We know that ammonia NH3 is flammable[ burns] in air in fact explosive from 17 to 25% but the heating value of ammonia is less than half that of gasoline meaning that an engine running on ammonia will have less than half the HP of the engine running on gasoline. Hmmn. Maybe that would be a good thing.
