westinghouse frost free 410 litre ..... first found defrost timer melted and replaced .... now seems to be tripping power when it goes into defrost mode ...what should the heater element measure I'm measuring 122 ohms ps don't confess to be the best white goods repairer more electronics :-)

hi
first take out the heater wires &check if the heater has connection with the ground if so it needs to be replaced

hi tonyelian .... yeah mate its shorted to ground ....so would that mean 122 ohms is basically a short for a heater element? .... what should the elements generally measure ?obviously a lot higher yeah .... thanks for your reply by the way ....

If the heating element is shorted to the grownd, measuring its resistance is useless.

tonyelian got it in first shot. Just replace it and all should be fine.
