Hi guys, I have a Thermo King SB-190 unit. Recently I learned that I have to check for compressor oil lever. I looked through the glass when the reefer was running and noticed that maybe it is not enoug oil. Manual tells that it should cover the see through glass by at least 1/4. In my case it just there, but it barely reaches the glass. Do I have to add some? How to do this?

You add oil with oil pump through the suction schreder valve.

Make sure that you add the right oil type and viscosity.

If there are no oil leaks, it might return back the sump after some running time.

Hi Forest,
get the local TK agent to check system. The main problem is where has the oil gone, leaks or into system, system faults could be a downstream problem.

don't worry about it !
If you see oil thru the glass it'll be fine.

Some of the oil is in the system, put it thru a defrost or run it in heat for an hour then check it.

The oil pick up is on the bottom of the sump for your information.

At the bottom of the glass is a usual spot for the oil to sit in cool mode.

1/4 sight glass is for when you service/replace the compressor.

I'm with Dabutch. Then if it still doesnt come back, why not do a pump down and change the oil, filter and drier?
