Hello everyone,

first of all I'm new to this forum and new to refrigeration. Im a internship do research for a hotel improving the refrigeration. I'm doing a investment project for if they replace parts inside the refrigeration system.

So my setup is to calculate first the current installation. (Chiller-, airhandler-efficiency). The chiller, Carrier 30 HXC 261 (252 ton) got an efficiency in the books of 0,72 kW/ton. Now I have measured the chiller on full capicity 100% and it's using 1.5 kW/Ton. How is it possible to be twice inefficiënt than the data in the books?

Chiller is 10 years old, but I read something about losing 1% efficiency a year. So 50% is pretty much.

Does any of you know any solutions for me? What I have the test more? How to find the leak?

Also I'm thinking about asking prospects of the McQuay Magnitude chiller. Anyone expierence with this chiller?

Any suggestions/help is welcome, I'm a rookie into refrigeration.

Maybe not bad to add.. The chiller uses 3 compressors, two of 80 ton and 1 of 60 ton...

HJi, can't seem to find any data on the 30HXC 261; do you have any more data on the model type, Phase number etc? Also, duties normally quoted on kW.
