Hi,

I have a Whirlpool Frost Free fridge freezer, approx 2 years old which is making an hideous intermitant noise from what I think must be the motor. The fridge and freezer appear to be the correct temperature and the odd things is that when the fridge door is opened the noise stops?

Can anyone give me any advice on what is wrong? Is it fixable or is this fridge disaster?

Any advise appreciated!

Just a wild guess, but it is just possible you might be hearing air passing across a weak area of door seal.

When it is next making the noise instead of opening the door try leaning against it and see if the noise changes?

Worth a try anyway.
Alternatively try explaining a little further this noise.

Hi Mandy and welcome to our forum.
I too have the same problem with the same fridge (more than 5 years old). It is the fan at the back of the freezer compartment. Once every couple of years I remove the panel and squirt a little silicone lubricant onto the bearing of the fan and this fixes it for another two years.
