I am a student enrolled in a HVAC program and I am looking for a program to do some PH diagrams. I saw that CoolPack is widely used here. The only thing I was wondering is can I change the temperature units to Fahrenheit and the Enthalpy units to Btu/lb?

I don't mind using a calculator, just looking for the quickest way to convert. If there was a way to get Fahrenheit on the program, why wouldn't I use it...

Because the whole world uses ISO metric ... it's real easy to use and not so old fashioned.

When I started out in the fridge business I was already well versed in using Metric units like WAtts ... but I came into a "modern" industry which used old archaic units like BTU's and pounds force and horse power, which I found to be very bazaar! I would do all my calcs in metric and then convert the results to Imperial for the old guys and the "stick in the mud" brigade. It wasn't difficult and I quickly became very adept at mental conversion. ;)

How rediculous it used to be, with all the differing formats like, Tons of refrigeration, frigorifiques, Kcals, Btu/hr and Watts. At least the majority of the world has realised the way forward is to be united in measurement. Even though we still can't get around to supplying frig pipe in metric. Along with lots of other stuff really.:rolleyes:

We never really completed the metricfication programme over here. We still have remnants of imperial measures disguised as metric in the building trade. I recon they were meant to be easy fixes by calling an 8'x4'x3/4" board metric with dims of 2440x1220x19

I realise there is a perception the refrig industry was "born in the USA" , was it Mr Carrier who found a way of making refrigeration happen on a commercial scale.

So, I know it can be a pain converting from one system to another, but in the long run once you've got used to it, it gets easier and then you'll never look back. :D

I'm one of those stick in the muds that likes a bit of imperialism in his units. I admit I'm partial to using the metric side of a tape measure if it lines up easier. Less for my brain to 'fathom' :o.

However far the world gets to metrification the irony will always be there when you go to the wholesaler and ask for 15m of 1/2 inch and quarter.

Bring back the Groat!

Must have been in the very early days of refrigeration. Salary was probably something like 1 groat per fortnight, back in those good old days.

Geeze, it's not the posters fault he lives in a country that uses imperial, same as it's not my fault that i live in a country that drives on the other side of the road to him...
