There is significant ice build up inside the fridge. An engineer informed me that this was due to a faulty compressor.

Is this possible?

No. It's probably low on refrigerant or faulty thermostat.

hi duke,
if the comp, was faulty it would not run at all , ar it would run for a short space of time, then cut out,ice forming is as N,N,N , sayes short of gas, or stat, faulty. sedgy,

Or the fridge is in a hot and humid space withe the door much time open or the seal doors are very damaged.

Lots of possible causes for ice and frost buildup.

I'm not seeing how a bad compressor could cause it, though.

if you are talking about a domestic fridge check the door seal and thermostat
