halo, can someone guide me to start my project...

- i need 600 liter chilled water per hour
- evaporator inlet water temp 37c
- evaporator outlet water temp 15c

thanks...:)
and what is the different between refrigeration capacity and cooling capacity??

2.47 TR u can close to 3TR

How...

TR=(GPM*(Temp in - Temp out))/24

Its quik form to calculate a chiller capacity.

3TR mean chiller cooling capacity right? how about comppressor size?

hi, ah fai.

ohh..... yes
1 TR = 12,000BTU
3 TR or RT = 36,000BTU
u can use a tipical air condition compressor for R22 or R410 system.

thanks you so much friend...
i think i will go for bitzer

halo paco..
for select the condenser, expension device and evaporator, its depends on total cooling capacity??
any formula???
and what does it mean by compressor output m3/min?? for example bitzer.

Hi there,

First of all lets use SI units.

Q = M x Cp X DT

Q = Capacity in kW
M = Liquid mass flow rate kg/s
Cp = Liquid specific heat kJ/kg.K
DT = Liquid temperature difference °C

Your mass flow rate is 0.166 kg/s

Q = 0.166 x 4.18 x (37-15) = 15.2 kW

You have to select a compressor which can give you 15.2 kW capacity at =3°C evaporating and 50°C condensing (if air cooled)

NOW in actual life you can not have 37°C input water into the chiller all the time.
Normal water chiller when starts, the entering water is warm say 35°C but after a little while the temperature goes down and chiller works perfectly.

If entering temperature into the chiller is warm all the time then entering refrigerant will evaporate very quickly and suction pressure will be high.
IOW your chiller will not work correctly.
Normal chiller is designed for 12°C to 7°C.
Cheers

thanks for ur help, im new to RE... how about condenser and evaporator???

Firstly you need to find out the total heat load calculation, then you would able to size up chilled water shell and condenser and compressor from an engineering technical data.

Hi all:
what is GPM, I want 2 use this formula

NoNickName

GPM is gallons per minute. Imperial units. Anyway, for Ah fai, I don' think you will be able to find a suitable DX evaporator for 22K delta T. You will need to split the cooling at least twice or more, .

Hi Lana
When u say that normally a chiller is designed to function between temperature range of 12 celsius-7 celsius..what do u mean by that?..is it the relantionship between chilled-medium ind and chilled
medium out of evaporator?..or?......pardon me this dumb question, but i´m experiencing problems on interpretation as well......best regards

anyone can give me a layout of a chiller system w/ auto refill of water using pressure tank.

condenser capacity = evaporator capacity in kw + kw rating of the compressor motor
