I am wanting to buy a electronic leak detector for work but was wondering which models you guys have and your experience with them?

I am working mainly with HFC refrigerants

Don't get the yellow jacket one. I had one that failed second time I used it, the replacement one wasn't any better. Ended up with a tek mate, very sensitive to dust and wind though.

D Tek Select (the white one).

Found it to be totally accurate when used correctly. Doesn't like getting leak spray down its throat though, and at £50 for a new IR cell yer pocket wont like it either.

Also used a TIF XP1A. My morning turd would have found more leaks than that thing.:o

Easy on the fig rolls,

Andy.

I like the D tek select too, however you have to right on the leak. It is the only one I know of that can pick up R410a though. I like the fact that the probe is long and you can bend it to reach around coils. It is my backup leak detector. The primary being a Yokogawa H10. That thing is pretty sensitive. If the leak is in an evaporator coil, the H10 can sniff it out through the condensate drain line. With the D tek, you have to be right on the leak.
