View Full Version : Condensing Water Quality parameters

I have a requirement for the new Cooling Towers that requires the water to be monitored of its quality.

The CT will be part of the old AC system installation and is part of the retrofitting project we're currently undertaking.

However, the designer has required the following parameters which i feel is already too much.

These are the parameters,

PH - 7.5 to 9.0
Turbidity (FTU scale) - <20 units
TDS (total dissolved solids) - <250 ppm
Iron - <1.0ppm
Copper - <0.1ppm
Bacteria Count - <10npml
Hardness as Cacoł - 30 ~ 200 ppm
Chlorides - <125 ppm
Sulfates - < 125 ppm

Other than the first three, i believe that the others can be neglected since the "condensing water" only serves the chiller units and for no other purpose.

Do you agree on me with this one?

Typically though i use only the PH and the conductivity rating to monitor the water quality for most of the cooling towers i have installed and even some cooling towers come built-in with them.

I need a credible explanation to the building tenant that is why I'm sourcing out some help.
