Hi Everyone, I am getting into refrigeration in case I decide to change my carrear direction.

Reading through hese forums seems a mine of usefull information but reading some of the threads it seems that there are a lot of abbreviations used in the field.

Im all for shortening things down, particularly for forums such as this but could we start putting a list together of abbreviations and their meanings? It would make the forum an easier place for newcomers like myself.

Thanks, Luke

H/P-discharge pressure/high pressure (sometimes called delivery pressure)
O/P-oil pressure
Delta T- temperature difference
Delta P-pressure difference (delta represented by a triangle symbol)
S/H- superheat
S/C-subcooling
EPR-evaporator pressure regulator
SST-saturated suction temperature
SCT-saturated condensing temperature
SLT-suction line temperature
LLT-liquid line temperature
VRV-variable refrigerant volume (Daikin only)
VRF-variable refrigerant flow
*****-refrigerant
HFC-hydroflourocarbon
HCFC-hydrocloroflourocarbon
CFC-cloroflourocarbon
CARE REFRIGERANTS-hydrocarbons(flamable)
COP-coefficient of performance
GWP-global warming potential
ODP-ozone depleting potential
C&G 2079-the current qualification required in the uk to work on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment containing green house gases
KYOTO PROTOCOL-climate change police
HVAC-heating,ventilation and air conditioning
ACRIB-air conditioning/refrigeration industry board
IOR-institute of refrigeration

And probably a lot more all i can think of off the top of my head.
