Thermoelectric dehumidifier

Hello,

We are reverse engineering a dehumidifer like this one:

The Sunpentown SD-652 TEC dehumidifier

It uses a Peltier-cooler to dehumidify the air. We have dimantled it (basically removing the chassis/case) and have mounted just outside, but with access, to a chamber of about 3 cu ft. It does not seem to dehumidify the air much at all. The ambient RH% is about 55-60 percent, and we cannot seem to dehumidify this air in the 40-50% range. We would like to custom make a TEC (not compressor based) humidifier. Is there a good TEC module or modules to use to achieve this task?

You will need a very large Peltier due to the latent heat to be removed.

How large of a TEM? The one we have now is about 40mm x 40mm. We wouldn't need something the size of a letter size page (8.5" x 11") would we?

Very simple, you need one with the same cooling capacity as the compressor, not sized to dimensions or whatsoever

No different to any other refrigeration process, numbers in, numbers out.
just go to your TEC manufacturer, they have all the data on their products, you then apply in a similar way as you would with any other refrigeration system. But if you do not understand the principles of either. then you are knackered in the short term or loads of money in the long term
