Hi there,

Has anyone used Danfoss Coolselector programme?

My problem is in the TEV selection part. This programme selects very large nozzle and also it does not comply with Danfoss catalog.

Any ideas?

Cheers

For some unknown reasons I am unable to install Cool-selector, but my Coolcat 2005 works fine.

Would you please give us an example?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Dear Nike123, I also tried so many times and finally
managed to run it.

Dear NoNickName, here is an example :

R22
Capacity : 30kW
Evaporating Temp : -40°C
Evaporating Pressure : 1.05 bar
Condensing Temp : 44.42°C
Condensing Pressure : 17.05 bar
Subcooling : 4°K
Distributor pressure drop = 0 bar

Valve T5-55 Orifice : TE5-4
With this data the programme shows 19.1 kW and says "Valve too small"

NOW with catalogue (Technical leaflet - RD1AY202 - 2002) page 29 with the same data (Pressure drop across valve = 16 bar), with orifice NO 04 you will get capacity 30.2 kW.

I have always used the catalogue and never had a problem. BUT this software is very confusing.

Cheers

With your data Coolcat gives me TEX5-12 (orifice 04 and capacity of 30,08 kW).

This is exactly my problem. Your selection complies with the catalogue.

Thanks

With your data Coolselector returns TE-5 with orifice 4 for 100% capacity (30.1kW) and no warning messages.
21kW for orifice 3.
Nothing wrong here.

Please have a look at the picture. Maybe I am making a mistake.

You probably have wrong TE5-55 data sheet. Look danfoss page: For R22, te=-40*C and pressure drop 16bar TE5 with orfice 4 has 19,9kW. For me coolselector is OK.

I have checked the new catalogue for TEX5 and is changed a lot but for TEX2 is the same.

Can anyone say why it is so much different?

From what I see, catalog numbers for orifices are changed. It looks like the new set of orifices are in game and therefore new capacities.
That is probably to force us to spend more on new sets.

Try leaving the series and the orifice size fields blank and let it select for you
My version is 1.0.0.8, it looks like it's slightly outdated.

Nike123 I am surprised that you can get Coolcat to select a TEX 5 as I can't get it to select a TE-5 for any conditions! I wonder what could be causing this? Have you ever had this problem with Coolcat?
