Hi all,
we have had reports from a Contractor that says 5 year old Mitsi Heavy Ind VRF installed to some offices is obsolete and they cannot get part to repair. Is this true?

Which part does it need? It seems doubtfull but stranger things have turned out to be true in the past.

Its possible this was an older system that had been in the wholsalers whare house a while, you will need to post model numbers and parts needed etc to know for sure.

A friend in the trade was telling me how a chiller he supplied 18 months ago has a part that is now obselete!

We tried to get hold of an indoor fan motor and tray for a Mitsubishi Heavy split unit recently and was told the same thing by Mitsubishi themselves, that the parts were obsolete since they don't keep parts for units that are older than 5 years old.

We couldn't beleive it.

That is because importer doesn't want to keep parts more than it is prescribed by law.
I am not sure that is MHI policy. It is policy of importer.

MHI now seem to be renewing their domestic range every 2 years and that of course lead to a ridiculous complete stock of spares. Boards and motors do not seem to be a problem but moulded parts (plastics) ... would be another story. Regretablly the Spanish distributors of MHI seem to be also a bit (!?) shortsighted as they removed the excellent switched units from catalogue and now only offer inverters. They have also messed up the second level distibutors where I work badly - the crisis is hitting us all and rash decision, well... (MHI take note!)

Sn update on the obsolete issue.

We are acting on behalf of our client who has an incumbent contractor on site declaring that he can’t get parts for the extg equipment. We have spoken to MHI who have advised that parts are available with the exception of a micro-chip on the inverter pack (this was thrown out when the parts failed). We have been advised that we need to source a ‘pre-owned’ micro-chip of the same type used in the extg kit.

The Mitsi Heavy Industries model nos are :

FDCP224HKXRE2A
FDCP280HKXRE2A

Not good for 5 year old kit.

Has anybody got a spare micro-chip?

The following microchip references were taken from the Mitsubishi Heavy Industry VRF Condenser:
<LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">NEC D8049HC(M) 858 9628H7002 <LI class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt">NEC D65004C048 0004KD003
NEC 9912 00012EE0PGM12.5VHN2712AG-25 (this microchip had a sticker over the top that read PAC 42C)
We are advised that these microchips are no longer in production, however can anyone confirm if there are stocks available of these items that can be purchased.
