View Full Version : Heat pumps and Thermal expansion valves question

I was wondering...
I use Danfoss TE2 and TEX2 Expansion valves, witch are used for a wide range of applications from 0.14 to 5ton air conditioner by some interchangeable orifices for the needed capacity (1ton/2ton...).

Question:
In a heat pump we use two of these valves, so do we need both valves having a orifice or is only one needed!?

Thanks

Ctscasemod, if two valves are used then two orifices must also be used. Besides, the orifice strainer is the seat for the copper flare to seal against.

Yes, otherwise the valve would have to be soldered, but are the two orifices the same size? Since I'm using TEX with internal reverse valve there are two orifices in series, so, wouldn't the output be reduced by them?

Thanks

Danfoss TEX2 with internal reverse valve does not exist.

You're right, I've meant TE2

Ah, hasn't been invented yet. Don't you mean external equalisation line?
