Good evening to everyone. I would like to get some opinions in regards to the following situation:
There is this small Trane condensing unit which has its piston type compressor damaged. The almost unreadable data plate model lists a "12", so I suppose it is a 12000 btu unit.
As replacement options, I found both piston type (Copeland, Tecumseh) and rotary type compressors (Hitachi, Sanyo) available, with the rotary type compressors much more economical.
In the past I´ve changed busted piston compressors with scroll units with no noticeable change in capacity. But what about a rotary instead of a piston ? Would it work the same ? I forgot to tell you that the condensing unit is coupled to a fan coil type ducted evaporator.
Regards
