Guys

Recently we had lost some gas from our provision reefer system. We found out that the leak was from a Schrader Valve on the Evaporating Pressure Regulator for Cold Room - Lobby. The leak was arrested and we put back the system in operation.

We also found out that this Evaporating Pressure Regulator (EPR) was fitted wrongly and the setting screw is loosed; and it was purposely done by contractor during initial start up as to get the ***** gas flow and cool the Lobby. The EPR was fully insulated and nobody had noticed that it was fitted in wrong direction. When we tried to give some force to the spring, we noticed that no gas flow out from the evaporator. This was done by comparison of pressure gauges reading fitted before and after the Evaporating Press. Regulator.

Even though this EPR was fitted wrongly , the Lobby and Vegetable room temperature never failed to reach the set point. Meat and Fish room were not fitted with this Evaporating Pressure Regulator.
The function of this Evaporating Pressure Regulator is to have a constant evaporating pressure and also used to differentiate the evaporating pressures in two or more evaporators in system with one compressor.

I suspect that this is the reason why the suction line always icing, excessive liquid carry over and subsequently damage the compressor even though a suction accumulator has been incorporated. A specialist opinion regarding the wrongly fitted Evaporating Pressure Regulator and the problems to our current system is much appreciated before any changes to be carried out.
