Hi, I am a new member and need help solving my problem of
oscillating suction line temperature on home air conditioner
made by Carrier (Model No. 38HD, 5 ton Condenser).

It had lost most of its R22 charge due to small leak. After fixing the leak, added the R22 and started checking the superheat to adjust the charge. My problem is that under
following conditions, I do not get a stable suction Temperature:

Outside Air temp=88 degree F
Inside wet bulb=66 degree F
Suction pressure varies between 67 to 70 PSI
suction temperature cycles between 42 to 56 degree F.
This is after unit has been running for over 20 minutes.

What could be causing this ?.
Since suction temperature varies so much, I do not know if the unit needs more charge or lass.
Anyone can help me ??

Thanks.
