Is it a new system with a lot of steel pipe ?
What model of Vilter & type of discharge valve ie ring type valve plate ?

I have seen a case of the discharge valve rings actually wearing right through the valve plates .
This was a R22 plant with Sabroe compressors .
The plant was new & put it down to steel pipe dust, scale etc .
Replaced once & all OK .
Didn't seem to wear anything else but discharge valves .
Maybe this happened to you .

hi ranger1,
the worn out safety was already replace we are monitoring now the operating temperature/pressure hopefully we can find the root cause of the problem. because there are two ice builder. the ice builder 1 is running without problem for so many years on the ice builder 2 ( new one but total replica of the ice builder 1 ). that is why can't seem to understand what went wrong
thank you

hi Ranger1,
forgot to mention there are 3 compressor with 1 common suction header and liquid header.
also got the running details.
suction pressure: 21 psi
discharge pressure: 255 psi
ampere: 101
suction pressure: 19 psi
discharge pressure: 215 psi
ampere: 96
the design specs of ice builder are 4 F (27 psi ) suction and 112 F condensing temp.
thank you

Can you post picture of worn out discharge valve and/or a vilter part number .
You also have 255 psi discharge on one compressor , is the an error .

hi ranger1,
ok i'll try to pose some pictures. The outer ring of the safety head is the one being worn out. part number 517 of vilter parts
But now the problem is got broken piston with lots of metal debris just open up the compressor yesterday to check the odd sounds its making. oil filter are full of black sludge so maybe the broken piston is due to lubrication failure but still checking the system.
about the discharge pressure, 255 psi is correct that the highest recorded pressure the lowest is 215 psi they give me.
thanks for the help
