Hi,

I am new to reefer trailers, so I apologize if this is a dumb question. Is it possible to externally power the reefer during the loading and unloading process?

Thanks

Yes, by hooking up to 3 phase generator

Yes, but you want the unit NOT running (cooling) whilst the loading doors are open, either put into defrost (quick load) or switch off (long load).

I presume you have a trailer unit, as opposed to a container unit.
Most North American spec trailer units do not have a standby electric motor.
The best loading procedure is to run the unit down to temperature, and then switch the unit OFF whilst the doors are open.
All you will acheive, apart from burning unnecessary fuel, is to attract a lot of humid air over the evaporator coil, which will then require defrost cycles to clear it. Remember, whilst the unit is in defrost it's not cooling!
All the best, Graham
