Hello All

I would like to ask you for advice. I’ve got the Lunite single phase compressor equipped with terminal box with the 63Amps contactor. I would like to know if that contactor is sufficient to do the job.

This is the electric specification:
Rated Current RLA: 20A
Max Current: 30A
Start Current: 100A

That starting current makes me a bit anxious.

Many Thanks,
Sittard

No problem.

Your 63amp contactor is sufficient to do the job.

What you have to look at, is the MAX CURRANT.

At start the contacts are closed and it takes less than a second for the compressor to run and drop the amps.

When you disconnect the contactor at high currant, there is a big spark between the contacts and that is what kills contactors.

i have seen 10 hp 3 phase compressors on 32 amp contactors, your little pot will be fine!

Many contactors have the max motor hp/kw marked on them or on a chart on the box come in. I think your compressor is a 3hp model.
