Well your pack controller is the brains and does exactly what it says, it basically controls your suction and discharge pressures by turning compressors and condenser fans on or off depending on the pressure readings taken from the pressure transducers.

Each compressor on the pack has a control circuit and this circuit must be complete in order for it to run. The control circuit includes all the safety devices typically LP and HP switches, an oil switch, thermistor and overload.

I'm pretty sure Copeland do a manual with the cct diagram of every compressor there is.....And in it are the individual control ccts (Basic) of Star-Delta-start and part wind compressors .........Worth it's wait in gold....!

Have a look at http://www.dixell.com/linea58/download/XC1008-1011-1015D_GB.pdf
This is a microprocessor specifically dedicated to supermarket multiplex systems. Very interesting reading for understanding lead lags and condensing control.
