What are the advantages of scroll compressor over reciprocating compressor in split type AC system?
If we think both short time & long time basis.......

Interms of reliability and efficiency scroll has edge over recip. However the initial cost of scroll is higher,also recip can be repaired after the failure.

The advantage for the manufacturer is mainly the price, a scroll is cheaper although most small splits till 7 kW have a rotary compressor. They say a scroll is also more silent.
