Saw one, or one just like it, at the college recently when I took my C+G Safe Handling course.

Has anybody ever thought of making there own using clear flexi pipe?
I always thought that would be really interesting , and then you could make faults on it like switching off the cond fan or evap fan, and see how the gas/liquid moves around.

I think RPW had a " wicked" one on display at RAC 2002.....
I wonder what they did with it??

Yes , it had clear plastic tube

And u can make one up yourself using a decent quality clear tube, use " heat seal stick" to make the joins airtight.......

Was once told by a sales rep,That an engineer in Tasmania ran the pipework for a R22 split in PVC tube.
Apparently it didn't leak....

Thats a nice bedtime story, PVC can not hold discharge pressure.

Maybe it was a steel pipe PVC coated?

what refrigerant was he using?

I thought it was R11 to avoid excessive pressures.

Spoke to sales rep today.System was not an airconditioning system, it was running the refrigeration at a pub.

He seems to think that it was running on r12 or a drop in.

Wasn't sure about the liquid line, but he tells me that the suction line was definetly PVC tube.

He said that he is going to Tasmania in the next month and if he gets a chance he will take a picture of it.

I teach students on some training bench made by ElettronicaVeneta , one bench have transparent tubes , not sure of what it's made of, to make the students see the refrigerant states in both evaporator and condenser.
