oversizing condenser fan motors?

1/4 horse 1075 condenser fan motor replaced by a 1/2 condenser fan motor, does this pose a problem by spinning faster due to pitch of fan? i would like to think that this could cause over condensing problems. am i correct or am i wrong?

The pitch of the fan blade will not make it spin faster. The RPM of the fan is set by the electrical supply frequency and the number of pole pairs in the motor.

The fan blade pitch determines the amount of air the fan will move and the motor is usually sized to counter that duty against an external static resistance.

If your new fan spins at the same rate as the one you have replaced and you are using the same impeller (fan blade), in the same installation, the only downside will be the extra energy consumed.

P.S.

No such thing as 'over condensing'. The effect is known as 'excessive sub cooling' - but I'm sure you know that ;)

Its like replacing a straight 4 with a V8, or a 2.5 litre with a 5.0 litre engine. As long as fits it'll still work and have enough spare capacity for extra passengers but sup more juice.

The Higher powered motors are for larger fans on larger condensing units, like frank says it'll just consume a bit more juice than a smaller one. Its better to fit the next size up with the same rpm than the next size down.
