View Full Version : AEV in a Volkswagen LT46

I have a neighbor with an airco in his Volkswagen LT46 van.
Gas was gone, pressurized it and the AEV was leaking on the right side.
The valve is some sort of fit-between-the-tubes type. The tubes insert in the valve with O-rings and the tubes are then sealed/pushed to the valve wit a flange, tightened wit a hex nut of M6. Tried to tighten, inserted new O-rings and finally after 3 tries, tightening bolt of M6 is broken.
Type is 202 830 01 82 and also mentioned on it TGKE DEC 1-G
Compressor is a Sanden SD7V16.
Is this a common Volkswagen spare part or is it available everywhere.
Because I don't do these often, what other things should I look for?

Hoi Peter,

Even in nederlands, gaat mijn iets makkelijker af.

Groeten Victor

Hi Peter,

I would suggest that it would be a VW dealer part. The manufacturers love to make minor alterations to such parts to ensure that we must buy from them, I have around 20 old "H" block expansion valves from various manufacturers and each one of them is different in some minor way, all designed to ensure lack of commonality, closest reference I could find was an expansion valve from the VWs sister the MB Sprinter.

By the way the SD7V16 does not react well to having been low on refrigerant as aluminium grindings do tend to clog up the displacement control valve, so if you suffer from poor cooling and wierd pressures, the best solution is to toss the compressor in the bin, flush the system and fit a new compressor
